Casa
Machaya Oaxaca Bed and Breakfast
Our Oaxaca bed and breakfast consists of a spacious, full
level of our hillside home, with panoramic mountain and valley
vistas. We rent our bed & breakfast to only one couple
or family at a time. Our accommodations are more akin to having
your own private apartment than simply a suite in a b &
b.
We provide the following amenities:
-
fully equipped eat-in kitchen with pine table and chairs;
- landscaped
patio with walk down to our fruit trees;
- spacious
bedroom with queen size bed, futon, 3 piece wicker settee,
cable TV with DVD, night tables, WIFI, lamps and ceiling
fan;
- optional
adjoining extra bedroom for children, with full size bunk
beds;
- 3
piece washroom.
Casa Machaya now offers an additional private rental unit suitable for
an individual or a couple, consisting of separate bedroom
with cable TV & DVD, WIFI, its own separate patio,
and washroom. Please inquire
for additional photos and further details.
Casa
Machaya Oaxaca Bed & Breakfast is child friendly. If traveling
with infants or young children, our bed and breakfast is pleased
to offer the use of a crib, high chair, car seat and stroller.

routes geared to hold the interest of children.
We are a Canadian couple who spent four years building our
home using a Oaxacan architect; so at Casa Machaya youre
assured of classic Mexican flare, color and design, yet with
the conveniences of home, and no cultural surprises:
- an
abundance of hot water for showering;
- unlimited
purified drinking water;
- as
well as the little things for the kitchen such as coffee
maker, toaster, microwave, electric juicer and the usual
appliances and kitchen requirements;
- even
a comfy cot for taking a late afternoon snooze.
Our traditional adobe-stone-brick construction at Casa Machaya
Oaxaca Bed & Breakfast, and the breezy location just above
downtown Oaxaca, ensure moderate temperatures all year round.
Awaken to the sounds of roosters and Mexican music echoing
across the valley, yet youre only minutes from the zócalo,
the heart of downtown Oaxaca with its art galleries, museums,
colonial churches and restaurants featuring world renowned
gastronomic excellence. Our Oaxaca bed and breakfast combines
the service and comfort of a modern Oaxaca hotel, with the
personal touch of quaint country inn style lodging.
Available services include:
- airport
transfers arranged;
- laundry
facilities;
- complimentary
high speed internet (WIFI);
- private
cooking lessons by internationally acclaimed native Oaxacan
chef Pilar Cabrera;

José Mogote; mezcal factories of Matatlán
and the mountain regions; and many off-the-beaten-track

Our guests write:
I can't stress enough how much your home and
hospitality played a role in having a great vacation. We simply
could not imagine having spent our time in Oaxaca anywhere
else.
Seth Ditchik, Roosevelt, NJ
Alvin, it was really great to meet both you and Arlene.
Thanks so much for your wonderful hospitality! Denyse and
I had a great time and, as I tell people here about it, I
realize I enjoyed every minute of the trip. It was a great
introduction to Oaxaca and a very good break for me.
Helen Dimitrijevic, Guelph, ON
Alvin, I want to thank you and Arlene for the hospitality
you extended to all of us. After a full day of traveling,
it was wonderful to relax in your beautiful house and be treated
with food, wine and great conversation. You made us feel so
welcomed. I can't imagine visiting Oaxaca without the richness
of the experiences that you provided for us. Every item we
bought comes with the memory of being introduced to a wonderful
people who take so much pride in their crafts. I felt that
we were immersed in the history and culture of Oaxaca. "Tour"
does not define what we experienced throughout the week.
Deborah Brill, Skokie, ILL
If we had stayed in a hotel, we would not have had the
rich experience that we had. Oaxaca was the place we had not
been before, and so it was the meat of the trip.
Thanks for all the things you did to make it really amazing.
K. Marie Taylor, Sault Lake City, UT
We decided it was the best place weve ever stayed
in. Quite the travel bargain, too.
Michael Sugerman, San Francisco, CA
Thank you both for a truly wonderful time in Oaxaca.
I will be recommending Casa Machaya to everyone.
Kathryn Anderson, London, ON
Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated your
care and thought while we stayed with you. Your willingness
to make sure we had everything we needed, and the places you
took us were just amazing. We know that you didnt have
to include us, and I was so grateful that you both did. Especially
meaningful to me was the care you both took for me when I
was ill. I really appreciate your kindnesses. Ill most
definitively be seeing you again, when I return for my next
visit. My husband wants to see Oaxaca now that Ive had
such a fabulous time, and I wouldnt think of staying
anywhere else.
Stephanie Oppelaar, Bellingham, WA
Once again, thank you so much! We so enjoyed our time
in Oaxaca and Casa Machaya. Speaking for all of us, your in-depth
knowledge of the culture was certainly a bonus for us. We
could not have asked for a more accommodating host.
Linda Breslin, Baltimore, MD
Thanks again, to both of you, for making a long-anticipated
dream vacation a reality. You are great people,
and we were fortunate to stay at your place.
Kristine Hansen, Winnipeg, MAN
Just sending you a little note to say what a great time
we had in Oaxaca. We could not have done it without you
we cannot thank you enough. You were such kind hosts and so
knowledgeable about the area. You really gave us a great flavour
for the region.
